Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America. It was borne out of the Civil War and a desire to honor our dead. It was originally proclaimed on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic.
Far too many USA Citizens “celebrate” this day without giving any thought to its purpose and meaning. How do you and your family honor the 1.8 million service men and women that gave their life for America since 1775? How do we thank them for their sacrifice? Memorial Day is the one day to remember them for sure!! To learn more, visit www.usmemorialday.org.
